Home theater installation can be really tricky. I know it’s very exciting once you have bought it and it’s right there in the middle of your drawing room, bedroom or wherever it is that you are planning to install it. I suggest you take a few moments and get organized before you begin the home theater installation. By doing your home theater installation well you ensure high quality performance from your wonderful gadget.

Planning

Map out the room. You can use high technological equipment or if you are not comfortable with them, draw up a map. Be sure to include details such as windows and other objects in the room that may obstruct the sound.

Where and how would you like the wires to run? Along the wall is the best option unless you have wireless system. Always get more wire then you measured you would need – trust me; you will always need more for home theater installation or for any installation for that matter.

Organize the wires – color wise, just as the manual indicates. Lay them out so they will be easy to reach when you will have the room full of tools.

Take in consideration if you need to get/build stands or wall mounts for the speakers. Here you have to consider the space you are working with, if the stands will be in the way and can get knocked over or if you choose wall mounts, the weight of the speakers.

Preparation can save you a lot of frustration and precious time while doing a home theater installation.

Power Outlet

Due to the large amount of appliances present in today’s households, power outlets is another factor one most not neglect during home theatre installation planning.

Home theatres pull a lot more power then the TV, PC or the stereo system. Most wall outlets usually have only two sockets, due to which you will need a power strip, available at any computer/electronics store. The power strips have a great advantage of preventing power drop outs which can seriously damage your equipment. Make sure that the power lines in your apartment will be able to handle the load and try to place all your home theatre installation to a single circuit breaker.

Read the manual – as mentioned before home theater installation can be very tricky. Many people believe that, since they installed the TV, stereo, PC and all other home appliances a home theater installation will be just as easy. A very minor detail can mess the whole home theater installation and take you go right back to square one where you started.

Following the guidelines and your common sense should provide you with a lot of fun and a wonderful experience while doing your home theater installation.
