Consider Workout Regimen When Designing A Home Gym

Those considering installing a workout room in their home, should carefully consider the amount of space that can be dedicated and the equipment they will add when designing a home gym. The equipment should be situated in such a way as to not interfere with the other equipment in the room and the layout should be such that no piece of equipment has to be moved in order to use a different one. If more than one person will be using the room, designing a home gym should take that into consideration, allowing more than one person free access to different equipment at the same time.

If the room being used is not large enough to house all of the desired equipment, selecting a home gym system that incorporates several different workout stations in a small area may be advisable. However, if the floor space and budget allows, having different equipment for different types of workouts can make designing a home gym more fun and more results oriented.

When selecting equipment for the room, remember some of the basics of a good workout. The initial equipment being used should be used for warming up and stretching to get the muscles ready for the stresses of an intense workout. When designing a home gym keep in mind the order in which the exercises will be done. While there may be no established ¡°right¡± order in which to perform exercises, how the user will use it will make it more convenient going from one machine to the next.

Equipment Flow Should Invite Regular Use

When the person enters the room, it should not be presented as a torture chamber, giving the person second thoughts about embarking on an exercise journey. When designing a home gym the lower equipment such as a redundant bike or upright stationary bike could be in front to be used in a warm up session.

Treadmills can be placed around the perimeter of the room while designing a home gym to call the person into the center once they are warmed up. Free weights and dumbbells can be built around a flat bench for bench pressing or arm curls while elliptical equipment can be centered to invite a harder workout.

How designing a home gym helps the person feel about getting into the middle of an exercise foray is dependent on the person¡¯s dedication to their fitness. If the person is wasting a lot of money on equipment how they go about designing a home gym will soon become a moot point as their equipment will end up as a place to hand their dirty laundry.
